Physical Therapy Technicians, also referred to as Physical Therapy Aides, play a crucial role within the physical therapy team. Their responsibilities under the supervision of Physical Therapists or Physicians encompass a broad spectrum of rehabilitation services:
- Assisting patients with ambulation
- Safely transferring and positioning patients
- Helping patients learn therapeutic exercises
- Supporting providers during specialized clinical procedures
- Monitoring patients' progress and documenting treatment responses
These technicians also educate and inspire patients throughout their recovery journey, among other essential tasks.
Issuing Authority: National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
Medical administrative assistants, also known as medical office assistants or medical secretaries, are essential for maintaining the efficiency of healthcare offices and enhancing the patient journey. Their responsibilities vary depending on the setting and may involve tasks such as:
- Reviewing and responding to practice correspondence
- Utilizing computer systems to complete office tasks
- Managing phone calls and arranging appointments
- Welcoming patients and updating electronic medical records
- Ensuring the accuracy and upkeep of patient and practice-specific data

Refund Policy
To withdraw from this course, you must send a request in writing to cepd@odu.edu seven (7) days prior to the start date of the course. Failure to attend a course does not constitute withdrawal. Course registration fees, less a $100.00 processing fee will be refunded back to your original form of payment. There are no refunds once the class has begun.
Late withdrawals of six (6) days or less before the class begins, will result in the student being charged the $100.00 processing fee.
