The ID&T program at the Darden College of Education & Professional Studies provides students with a solid grounding in instructional design, cognitive theory and research to meet the challenges of instructional design professionals. Our wide variety of course offerings are designed to give the graduate a strong background in both the theory and practice of the field.

Training and Development Specialists
Design and conduct training and development programs to improve individual and organizational performance. May analyze training needs.
Human Factors Engineers and Ergonomists
Design objects, facilities, and environments to optimize human well-being and overall system performance, applying theory, principles, and data regarding the relationship between humans and respective technology. Investigate and analyze characteristics of human behavior and performance as it relates to the use of technology.
Instructional Designers and Technologists
Develop instructional materials and products and assist in the technology-based redesign of courses. Assist faculty in learning about, becoming proficient in, and applying instructional technology.
Commercial and Industrial Designers
Develop and design manufactured products, such as cars, home appliances, and children's toys. Combine artistic talent with research on product use, marketing, and materials to create the most functional and appealing product design.
Requirements

Hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university.

Have a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.80.

Take and receive satisfactory scores on either the Graduate Record Examination (score of 290 combined on verbal and quantitative with a minimum of 140 verbal for regular admission) or Miller Analogies Test (minimum score of 45 or 399 for regular admission); and have an interview with the graduate program director or his/her designee.Â

Performance in classes taken as a non-degree graduate student will not be taken into consideration in the admission process.Â
