The Graduate Certificate in Biomedical Engineering program offers students and professionals the opportunity to further their knowledge with advanced study in the growing area of biomedical engineering. The program is designed to provide well-rounded instruction in several key facets of biomedical engineering. Those who complete the program receive the Advanced Engineering Certificate in Biomedical Engineering from ¶¶MÅ®ÆÍ and a letter of recognition from the Batten College of Engineering and Technology. Courses taken for the certificate program may later be applied to the Master's or Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering.

Biomedical Engineers
¶¶MÅ®ÆÍ knowledge of engineering, biology, and biomechanical principles to the design, development, and evaluation of biological and health systems and products, such as artificial organs, prostheses, instrumentation, medical information systems, and health management and care delivery systems.
Architectural and Engineering Managers
Plan, direct, or coordinate activities in such fields as architecture and engineering or research and development in these fields.
Electronics Engineering Technicians
Lay out, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems, such as computer equipment, missile control instrumentation, electron tubes, test equipment, and machine tool numerical controls, applying principles and theories of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, electronic and electrical testing, and physics. Usually work under direction of engineering staff.
Electrical Engineering Technicians
Test or modify developmental or operational electrical machinery or electrical control equipment and circuitry in industrial or commercial plants or laboratories. Usually work under direction of engineers or technologists.

Prospective students must complete the application available on the BME website and submit to Dr. Christian Zemlin, BME graduate program director. The application will be reviewed to ensure the applicant meets the minimum qualifications and a program of study will be developed with the graduate program director. Students holding a bachelor's or graduate degree in any engineering, mathematics, science, or health-related discipline are encouraged to inquire about the program and apply.
